Inner Monsters-Glass Edition
There is no preference between what we choose to be and the existing reality. The tangible construction of the existence of what we choose to be begins with the moment of selection. Reality stands erect in front of us with intense emotions coming from within. As the anxiety and panic dies down, the creation of the self in another form begins to emerge.
Ayşenur Ceren Asmaz’s drawings on glass are weaved by the meticulousness of embroidery. The fine details on them are so simple that the light seems to be gliding through them. The figures and spaces in the compositions she creates merge with shadow to take us for a journey through a supernatural fantasy world. She has given form to the spheres in such a pure and true to form that they remind us of the balloons we made from soap bubbles as a child.
Through the ‘Monsters Inside’ exhibition, we meet the solitude and darkness of our inner worlds as well as the purity of our childhood, which we cannot leave behind. This is an exhibition where the transparency, smoothness, stiffness and fragility of the glass merges with our dreams and childishness that accompanies us in our inner journey and where you can watch a fabular world from the outside.
Seçilmiş olanla var olan gerçeklik arasında tercih söz konusu değildir. Seçilmiş olanın varlığının somut olarak inşaatı seçimin başladığı anla başlar. Gerçeklik, içeriden gelen yoğun duygularla karşımızda dimdik durmaktadır. Kaygı ve paniğin sessizleşmeye başlamasıyla benliğin başka bir biçimde yaratımı oluşmaya başlar. Süreç sancılıdır ama yarattıklarımızın elle tutulur nesnelere dönüşmesi, beraberinde büyük bir haz getirir.
Ayşenur Ceren Asmaz’ın cam üzerine yaptığı çizimleri bir nakış titizliğinde dokunmuştur. Üzerlerindeki ince detayları o kadar yalındır ki ışık aralarından süzülür gibidir adeta. Yarattığı kompozisyonlardaki figürler ve mekanlar gölgeyle birleşip bizleri gerçeküstü bir hayal dünyasında gezintiye çıkarır. Hazırladığı kürelere o kadar saf ve maddeye özgü bir biçimde form kazandırmıştır ki, bizlere çocukken sabun köpüğünden yaptığımız balonları hatırlatırlar.
‘Derindeki Canavarlar’ sergisi aracılığıyla iç dünyalarımızın yalnızlığı ve karanlığının yanı sıra, bırakıp gidemediğimiz çocukluğumuzun saflığıyla da buluşuyoruz. Camın şeffaflığının, pürüzsüzlüğünün, sertliğinin ve bünyesinde barındırdığı kırılganlığının, içsel yolculuğumuzda bizlere eşlik eden hayallerimiz ve çocuksuluğumuzla birleştiği, masalımsı denilebilecek bir dünyayı dışarıdan seyredebileceğimiz bir sergi bu.
