The Bulli Project
The Bulli Project, with the main objective of helping Syrian refugees, has been designed to bring artists, designers, curators, academics and other actors who are producing in the cultural arena, together in Cyprus in order to work collectively and also to share ideas throughout production. Bulli is the collective name given to poultry animals on the island, such as chickens, chicks and roosters, and is an important symbol of the island.
Within the framework of The Bulli Project, which has been designed by Erbil Arkin, guests invited to participate in this project are being asked to work together in terms of artistic and design operations for three days with the near life-size chickens and roosters made out of polyurethane, of which 300 have been produced. The finished chickens and roosters, collectively or singular, will be on display on the Island and will be up for sale. All proceeds will be given to help the Syrian refugees.
This project is volunteer-based and the travelling, eating, drinking and accommodation expenses of all guests will be covered by the Arkin Group. Every stage of this organization will be run by Art Rooms, which is under the umbrella of the Arkin Group, and the project will be managed by Basak Senova and Oya Silbery, who is the Director of Art Rooms.
The production stages are to be documented and it is expected that draft proposals for new projects at Art Rooms will result from the idea exchanges, debates and common ideas.
Ana amacı Suriyeli mültecilere yardım etmek olan Bulli Projesi, sanatçıları, tasarımcıları, küratörleri, akademisyenleri, kültürel alanda üreten diÄŸer aktörleri Kıbrıs’ta biraraya getirerek, hem üretim yapmalarını hem de üretim sürecinde düÅŸünce alış veriÅŸinde bulunmalarını saÄŸlamak için tasarlanmıştır. Bulli adada tavuk, piliç, horoz gibi kümes hayvanlarına verilen ortak isimdir ve adanın önemli simgelerinden biridir.
Erbil Arkın’ın tasarlamış olduÄŸu Bulli Projesi çerçevesinde projeye davet edilenlerin, çeÅŸitli tarihlerde 3 gün boyunca birlikte çalışarak poliüretandan üretilen gerçek boyutlara yakın tavuk ve horozlara sanatsal ve tasarıma dair müdahalelerde bulunması istenmektedir. Toplamda 300 adet üretilmiÅŸlerdir. Ä°ÅŸlenen tavuk ve horozlar, seri ya da tekil bir ÅŸekilde adada sergilenerek, satışa sunulacak ve geliri Suriyeli mültecilere aktarılacaktır.
Proje gönüllülük esasına dayanmaktadır, davetlilerin yol, yemek ve içecek, konaklama, üretim masrafları Arkın Group tarafından karşılanacak ve organizasyonun tüm aÅŸamaları Arkın Group’un bünyesindeki Art Rooms tarafından yürütülecektir. Projeyi BaÅŸak Åženova, Art Rooms’un direktörü Oya Silbery ile yönetecektir.
Üretim süreçleri belgelenecek ve bu süreçteki düÅŸünce paylaşımlarından, tartışmalardan, ortak düÅŸüncelerden Art Rooms’da gerçekleÅŸecek yeni projelerin inÅŸaası için taslak öneriler çıkması beklenmektedir.
